Morgan Wallen is giving credit where credit is due, with the Sneedville native paying homage to his good friend and collaborator, HARDY, during an episode of Morgan Wallen Radio.
Via the SiriusXM channel, Wallen opens up about what sets HARDY apart in terms of his songwriting, with the ‘Last Night’ hitmaker highlighting his pal's musical versatility.
The ‘Been By Now’ singer-songwriter begins by fondly gushing, “HARDY is another guy who is a close friend of mine, who is really just a savant-level musician and songwriter”.
Wallen goes on, “He's able to write any style of music and he's able to adapt to any style of music you want to write, and he's going to seem like an expert at it no matter what”.
Endearingly, the ‘20 Cigarettes’ chart-topper adds that “it's a real blessing having him in our camp”, with HARDY remaining a key writer on all of Wallen's studio albums.
Even as HARDY has established a loyal following of his own, with the country-rock maverick selling out amphitheaters and arenas across North America, he still makes a point of referring to himself as one of Wallen's writers, as well as an artist in his own right.
On Wallen's 2025 album, I'm the Problem, HARDY penned ‘I Got Better’, ‘I'm a Little Crazy’, ‘Leavin's The Least I Could Do’, ‘I Ain't Comin‘ Back’ with Post Malone, ‘Whiskey in Reverse’ and ’Come Back As A Redneck’, the latter of which he sings on, too.
It's been heartwarming seeing Wallen and HARDY's ascent, since their first appearance together in the music video for ‘Whiskey Glasses’, when they were both just starting out.
Since then they've gone on to release an array of stellar tracks, such as ‘He Went to Jared’, ‘Turn You Down’, ‘red’, ‘In The Bible’, ‘John Deere Green’ and, most recently, ‘McArthur’.
Although HARDY is no longer Wallen's regular opener, he rejoined his friend on a handful of Still the Problem Tour dates, with the duo linking up on-stage to perform their rowdy co-written anthem, ‘Up Down’, which originally featured Florida Georgia Line.
We're hoping there are plenty more collaborations in store from this dynamic duo, and we're still keeping our fingers crossed that we'll one day get that long-rumoured collaborative album between Wallen, HARDY and their third amigo, ERNEST.
Despite having written a multitude of tracks together, they've never all featured on the same song, something HARDY confirmed to Holler “will happen” one day. Until then, we'll happily make do with their stacked arsenal of co-writes and collaborations.
