Today has marked one of the most anticipated days of the year - no, not Brian Baumgartner's 51st birthday, rather, the day that Spotify Wrapped is finally released, with listeners across the world once again pretending to be surprised that Taylor Swift is their No. 1 artist.
As everyone has been dissecting their listening habits from the past 12 months through Spotify's fun, personalised dashboards, the global streaming giant has also released its reports on which artists, songs, albums and trends have been lighting up the music industry in 2023.
Morgan Wallen's March opus, One Thing At A Time, has been crowned Spotify's most-streamed album of the year in the US, a hugely impressive yet unsurprising feat, given the fact that the project has spent much of 2023 at the pinnacle of the Billboard 200.
Additionally, Spotify has unveiled the Tennessee native's sultry, beat-driven anthem, ‘Last Night’, as the most popular song of 2023 in the US, with the Billboard Hot 100 chart-topper being followed by SZA's ‘Kill Bill’ and Miley Cyrus’ ‘Flowers’.
It consolidates what's been a colossal year for Morgan Wallen, with the ‘Everything I Love’ songsmith topping a plethora of year-end charts. As well as picking up the top Billboard 200 album and Billboard Hot 100 song of the year, Morgan took home a staggering 11 trophies - more than any other artist - from the 2023 Billboard Music Awards.
Inevitably, as fans look back on Morgan Wallen's seemingly innumerable successes from the past year, their appetite for Morgan to follow this up with new music has undoubtedly been whetted.
In recent weeks, some have been speculating that the ‘Thought You Should Know’ singer-songwriter might have a blockbuster collaboration with Lainey Wilson up his sleeve, with Morgan Wallen having seemingly teased a duet earlier in the month.
