While chatting on his Morgan Wallen Radio station on SiriusXM, Wallen reveals that Miranda Lambert is his “favorite” female country singer, underlining how much he has come to appreciate the friendship he has with Lambert and her husband, Brendan.

Given Wallen's status as the biggest artist in country music, and one of the dominant acts on the all-genre charts, whenever he decides to give a shout-out, it feels like it means a little more - especially given how he doesn't really do interviews anymore.

Fans trying to guess who the ‘Last Night’ chart-topper's favorite female country artist is might assume he's talking about Ella Langley, who collaborated with Wallen on ‘I Can't Love You Anymore’ earlier in the year and who has been opening for him on an array of recent tour-dates. Or perhaps Lainey Wilson, another trailblazing female artist in country music who has supported Wallen on the road in the past.

But no, while he undoubtedly admires both Langley and Wilson, Wallen gives the crown of his “favorite” to Miranda Lambert, an artist he penned ‘Thought You Should Know’ with. Nicole Galyon, who has crafted iconic hits like Kenny Chesney's ‘All the Pretty Girls’ and Dan + Shay's ‘Tequila’, also co-wrote Wallen's ode to his mom.

Via Morgan Wallen Radio, Wallen praises Lambert, “As far as female country music singers go, this is my favorite. She has been for a long time, and I've been lucky enough to be able write a few songs with her now as well, and get to know her and her husband, and...they've really come to mean a lot to me. This is Miranda Lambert”.

Wallen, Lambert and Galyon famously wrote another song during the ‘Thought You Should Know’ session, ‘White Trash With Money’. We're still hoping this track eventually sees the light of day - and that Lambert and Wallen have found time to reconnect in the writing room in recent months ahead of the latter's next studio album.

Lambert has spoken fondly of Wallen in the past, underlining how ‘Thought You Should Know’ was born out of a heartfelt conversation the trio had, with Wallen opening up about his mom.

This weekend, Wallen concludes his Still the Problem Tour, with fans hoping his latest single, ‘Been By Now’, opens the floodgates for new music and - we hope - his fifth album.
