During his opening night in Baltimore, Maryland, Morgan Wallen performed the live debut of his brand new single, ‘Been By Now’. As he introduced the long-teased track, the Sneedville native confirmed he'd be releasing it on Friday, July 24th 2026.

Wallen first shared a snippet of ’Been By Now’ in early June, with a longer portion of the song leaking across TikTok shortly after, leaving fans wondering whether he'd be forced to scrap the release. Thankfully, given how infectious this song is, Wallen is still dropping it - and we don't have to wait all that long to get the full version.

As he geared up to perform ‘Been By Now’ for the first time at Baltimore's MT&T Bank Stadium, Wallen explained, “I just had a few weeks off tour, so y'all know me, I can't help but work a little bit. I've been in the studio working on my...whatever's next”.

He went on, “I don't exactly know what's gonna be next yet. But I do know that this song I'm about to play right now is gonna be my very next single and it comes out on July 24th”.

It's interesting that, judging by his words here, the ‘Last Night’ chart-topper appears to be dropping the lead single from his next chapter before he has a clear idea of what direction his new album will go in. Wallen has hinted at a foray into other genres in recent years, such as House music, so perhaps he's toying with a more diverse and eclectic set of releases, rather than a conventional album.

Either way, we're excited that we finally have a release date for ’Been By Now’, especially given the fact that Wallen has a history of making us wait a little too long for new music.

He poked fun at this in his recent post, where he performed a piano-driven rendition of ’Been By Now’, with the caption, “Maybe I'll release this one before the boats get winterized”.

This was seemingly a nod to his ’Love Somebody’ rollout in 2024. He teased it as a song that would “sound good on the boat” in May, but then made us go without the song all summer before dropping it in October, when boat season was well and truly over.

Thankfully, Wallen isn't making us hang around that long for ‘Been By Now’. Given the cushioning synths, Wallen's stellar vocals and the earworm melody of the hook, we're feeling pretty confident this should become his latest Billboard Hot 100 No. 1. We're keeping our fingers crossed there's a full project on the horizon, too.
