Midland are releasing a new documentary about their origins alongside a new album.

The trio has also released the vintage track ‘Cowgirl Blues’ from the soundtrack of the new film.

The film, entitled ‘Midland: The Sonic Ranch’ details how Mark Wystrach, Jess Carson and Cameron Duddy got together for the first time as they look back fondly on their first recording sessions together.

The documentary will premiere on March 19th on CMT and the accompanying soundtrack will also be released that day.

In a statement the band said “In the spring of 2014 we took 11 days out of our very separate lives to head down to the Sonic Ranch, a studio nestled along the dusty American side of the Rio Grande outside El Paso, Texas.

Midland was not so much a band as an experiment fueled by an assortment of spirits. We had no record label or manager and we had never played a show together.

These recordings capture three friends, at a live-in studio in the desert, trying to make a dream come true”.

The songs on the album are the fourteen songs they recorded in these formative day; only one made it on their albums - ‘Fourteen Gears’.

Midland have gone on to have huge success within country music, topping the charts with hits such as ‘Drinkin Problem’ and ‘Make a Little’.
