It may only be November, but Mr. Christmas is already back - and he's recruited country music chart-topper, Carly Pearce, for a brand new duet, ‘Maybe This Christmas’.
The duo have been teasing the keenly awaited collaboration throughout the month, with Michael Bublé and Carly Pearce sharing an amusing Instagram video of the two artists doing the viral ‘Suspect Challenge’. After Michael Bublé jokes about how Carly Pearce won't go to the studio without a bottle of wine, Pearce playfully goads Bublé about how he won't ever wear headphones because it'll mess up his hair.
Then, both artists claim they've “just recorded the greatest Christmas song ever”. In the comments, Michael Bublé made the bold claim, “Just wait amigos. I don’t think I’ve written something this meaningful since we wrote Home”, referring to his 2005 smash hit.
In a later post, Michael Bublé played a snippet of the new track alongside an acoustic guitar, with the ‘Haven't Met You Yet’ hitmaker explaining the inspiration behind the track.
Bublé outlined, “So I've never done this before, I'll probably never do it again, but...people are asking about the song that we are teasing...Have you ever written a song and cried like 12 times...Listen, I wrote a Christmas song for people that might not love Christmas, because they're hurting, because they're vulnerable, because it's a tough time for a lot of people, and I wanted to write something to give some hope”.
Now, Michael Bublé and Carly Pearce have shared a YouTube preview of ‘Maybe This Christmas’, which finds Bublé and Pearce harmonising as they movingly reflect on the acute challenges the festive season can present to those who are struggling.
It's an interesting change of tone for Michael Bublé, given the fact that the Canadian crooner has become synonymous with Christmas over the past decade or so. As a result, it's endearing to see Bublé exploring the harsher reality many face during the festive season for those who might be lonely or dealing with the loss of loved ones this Christmas, which often places a high emphasis on family.
Taking to socials after sharing the YouTube preview, Michael Bublé and Carly Pearce have stressed how much they love ‘Maybe This Christmas, “Sometimes the best things happen when you least expect them. This collab fell into place so seamlessly it feels like fate had a hand in it. We’re so proud of this song! We hope you love it as much as we do”.
Although there's no official release date yet, Michael Bublé and Carly Pearce's ‘Maybe This Christmas’ has been made available to pre-save, so it seems it'll be arriving very soon.
