Luke Combs created an unforgettable moment for a young leukaemia survivor, Cooper, during his recent show at the Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.
The North Carolina megastar introduced Cooper, who had met Combs before the show as part of his Meet-and-Greet event, to a sea of cheers and applause resounding throughout the stadium.
Combs explained to the audience that Cooper had just beaten cancer, and that it had been his long-time dream to meet his favourite country artist. Make-A-Wish organised for this to happen, but Luke Combs and his team went a step further and invited Cooper on-stage with him.
After hyping up the crowd, who proceeded to chant Cooper's name, the two launched into a moving rendition of Luke Combs’ chart-topping cover of Tracy Chapman's ‘Fast Car’.
Cooper was visibly - and understandably - overwhelmed by the audience's reaction, with swathes of attendees helping him to belt out the lyrics as Combs encouraged them to join in.
The Platinum-certified ‘Fast Car’ currently sits atop both the Billboard Country Airplay and the Mediabase Country charts, with the immensely popular track seemingly en route to become Combs’ first ever Hot 100 No. 1 in the coming weeks.
To do so, he'll need to dethrone his fellow country titan, Morgan Wallen, whose much-loved, beat-driven single, ‘Last Night’, has occupied the top spot for 14 weeks and counting.
