Luke Combs has broken into the UK Top 40 for the first time ever with his celebrated Tracy Chapman cover, ‘Fast Car’.

Despite being one of the few songs in Combs’ repertoire that he didn't write himself, ’Fast Car’ has blossomed into one of his most successful hits to date. The track currently sits at No. 38 on the UK Top 40, with many expecting it to surge higher up the chart in the coming weeks.

As well as creeping into the UK Top 40, ‘Fast Car’ has once again slotted in at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, behind Oliver Anthony's viral single, ‘Rich Men North Of Richmond’.

Should ‘Fast Car’ reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, it would - perhaps surprisingly - be the first time Luke Combs has reached the peak of the prestigious all-genre chart, with the North Carolina native having so far been forced to settle for second fiddle.

Morgan Wallen's ‘Last Night’ has kept ‘Fast Car’ at bay for a number of weeks, before Oliver Anthony took the top spot for the first time with his controversial new single.

‘Fast Car’ appeared on Combs’ acclaimed 2023 project, Gettin’ Old, alongside other fan-favourites such as ‘5 Leaf Clover’, ‘Love You Anyway’ and ‘Fox in the Henhouse’.

The ‘Beer Never Broke My Heart’ hitmaker recently released a special live version of ‘Fast Car’, and Luke Combs will be hoping this alternative rendition gives the song a boost as it continues to soar up the charts on both sides of The Pond.
