Luke Combs has revealed that a special collaboration could be on the cards with fellow country megastar, Morgan Wallen.
With Combs and Wallen arguably being the two biggest names in the genre at present, a joint offering would undoubtedly soar to the top of the charts and send reverberations around the country music world.
During his recent iHeartCountry album release party, Luke Combs opened up about the duo's continuing attempts to put out a song together, “We text about it. It's like, you've got to find the perfect song for that, though. Our consensus is that we want to write it or it has to be the perfect song. If you got it - the perfect song - we're listening!”
It's a tremendously exciting revelation for fans of the two artists, and it's not the first time Luke Combs has teased a possible collaboration with the ‘Sand in My Boots’ hitmaker.
During a 2023 appearance on the Wayne D Show on Nashville's The Big 98 radio station, Combs outlined that a duet with Wallen is on the cards, “We've kicked that can down the road a little bit and we've just never really landed on a song that I think we both love. I don't think it's out of the question at all. I think it would be awesome”.
Morgan Wallen supported Luke Combs on his 2019 tour, at the end of which Combs gifted the Sneedville chart-topper a special Gibson guitar. With both artists releasing new albums last month and subsequently vying for the top spot on the country charts, it would certainly be easy for there to be a sense of rivalry between the two.
However, it seems there's nothing but mutual appreciation between Morgan Wallen and Luke Combs, with the latter saying as much during a recent guest appearance on the Full Send podcast.
Combs said that today's No. 1 country music star in the world was either him or Wallen, before going on to sing his old tourmate's praises, “Dude, I love Morgan. I think he’s a great guy, man. I really do”.
In the past, both Morgan Wallen and Luke Combs have shared covers of each other's songs, with the latter uploading a video of him performing Wallen's break-out hit, ‘The Way I Talk’, back in 2019.
On the same day, Morgan Wallen returned the favour by posting his take on Luke Combs’ fan-favourite track, ‘She Got The Best Of Me’, taken from his acclaimed 2018 album, This One's For You Too.
While we keenly await more news of this potential blockbuster, Avengers-style collaboration, we'll be spinning Combs and Wallen's two new albums one after the other on repeat, in the hope that we'll be able to will a joint project into existence...
