Brandon Lake continues to tease new unreleased material as the excitement builds ahead of the Contemporary Christian Music hitmaker's long-teased country crossover project.

The South Carolina native has shared an acoustic rendition of a brand new track, with Lake revealing that he decided to offer fans a sneak peak of the song while the power was out in his studio. It finds Lake crooning sincerely across a gentle, pared-down piano instrumental about how God rescued him during his darkest period.

Lake begins by explaining, “Alright, so the power went out while we were making music, so I thought, ‘Hey, I'll take a second to sing you a new song I've been working on’”.

Across the evocative keys, Lake croons, “Thank God for the anger / That forced me to pray / Thank God for the silence / That taught me to wait / If He spared me from breaking / And God knows I did / Then I never would have ever known how good God is”.

It's a touching meditation on how Lake feels grateful in hindsight for all the challenges and struggles he faced on his journey to where he is now, because it gave him a newfound appreciation for how dependable and life-changing God could truly be.

Over the course of the moving new song, Lake suggests that, if it wasn't for all the hard times, his relationship with God and Jesus would not be nearly as strong as it is today.

Although Lake has not shared the official title or release date, there is an unreleased song on the ASCAP repertory attributed to Lake, Jonathan Smith, Derrick Southerland and Emily Weisband titled ‘How Good is God’. It seems this might well be the song Lake has just teased, especially given the fact that he has been increasingly working with country songwriters of late, such as Weisband and Southerland.

We're hoping we don't have to wait too long before we get the full studio version of this new track. In the meantime, we have a new Lake project to look forward to, with the genre-blurring artist set to release King of Hearts - In The Room! on Friday (June 26th).
