Lainey Wilson has earned her seventh straight No. 1 at Country Radio, with ‘Wildflowers and Wild Horses’ surging to the top spot on the Mediabase Country Chart this week.
Soon after the release of Lainey's acclaimed 2022 album, Bell Bottom Country, this dramatic, slow-burning track quickly emerged as one of the stand-outs from the record.
After picking up No. 1s with ‘Heart Like A Truck’ and ‘Watermelon Moonshine’, the Louisiana singer-songwriter decided to give ‘Wildflowers and Wild Horses’ its chance to shine at Country Radio on November 13, 2023, taking less than six months to reach the peak.
Taking to socials, Lainey Wilson expressed her pride and gratitude at the success of the song, which serves as a mission statement for Lainey's unique, trailblazing brand of country music.
The ‘Country's Cool Again’ hitmaker shared what ‘Wildflowers and Wild Horses’ means to her, “This song has always been about hard-work, determination, and grit…the values that raised me as the daughter of a fifth generation farmer and horse trader (thanks Deddy). Hearing y’all sing/clap/stomp along to this one on the road has been unreal”.
Lainey Wilson went on to thank the collaborators that worked on the much-loved track, “Thank you [Trannie Anderson] & [Paul Sikes] for goin outside of the box with me the day we wrote this. We got to make a little movie in a song with this gem didn’t we 🤠 I’m extra proud of this one and have loved seeing it become the anthem for MY wildhorses”, before giving a shout-out to her fan-club of the same name.
It seems likely that Lainey Wilson will follow up ‘Wildflowers and Wild Horses’ by sending her latest single, ‘Country's Cool Again’ to Country Radio. The uptempo, traditional-leaning offering is widely expected to be the title-track for Lainey's next album.
