There's just no stopping Lainey Wilson.
The Louisiana native has earned the fifth No.1 of her career at country radio with her latest single, 'Watermelon Moonshine', taken from her 2022 album, Bell Bottom Country.
Topping the Billboard Country Airplay chart, Wilson is the first solo female artist without a collaborator to top the chart since 2021, when she achieved the same feat with her hit, 'Things A Man Oughta Know'.
According to country radio insider Chris Owen, with the song being sent to country radio on May 30, 2023, it's also the fastest climb to no.1 for a single by a female solo artist since 'Church Bells' by Carrie Underwood in 2016.
One of the slower highlights from Wilson's sophomore album, it became a fan favourite live, cementing it's potential as another smash hit in the 'Heart Like A Truck' singer's catalogue.
Talking about the song's video upon it's release, Wilson shared some thoughts behind the theme and narrative of the No.1 hit; “This song is about the young, wild, crazy love that we all hope to experience. From locking eyes for the first time, to playing spin the bottle with an Ole Smoky mason jar, to being too crazy about each other to tame it".
"I am so happy with how Rachel Lynn Matthews and Sam Sherrod brought the vision to life through their portrayal of their innocently passionate characters”.
It's another accolade on the pile for Wilson, who is quickly becoming the hot favourite for Entertainer of the Year categories across awards season after what's been a scintillating 12 months.
She recently racked up a record nine nominations for the 2023 CMA Awards, which take place next month, as well as announcing some of her first festival headline appearances for 2024 at The Country Fest and Country Concert 2024.
