Ella Langley has just snagged her first ever VMA award for her hit 'Choosin Texas.' Taking over both charts and much of the music world, the song propels the Alabama native into what we can only expect to be a very impressive award show season for Langley.
Nominated for categories 'Song of Summer,' 'Best Country,' and 'Song of the Year,' Langley has dominated the 'Best Country' category, putting just one over a star-studded list of fellow nominees, such as Kacey Musgraves, Lainey Wilson, Luke Combs, Shaboozey, Stella Lefty, and Langley's recently rumored romantic partner, Tucker Wetmore.
The VMAs highlights the most successful music contributions of the year in the U.S. based on streams and general publicity. With winning songs, records, and artists chosen completely by online fan voting, Langley has won the hearts and minds of fans across the states with the decision of just what the best country song of the year is.
The win comes hot on the heels of Langley breaking the record for longest-running No. 1 song in the world, with the hit dominating the Billboard Hot 100 since early February. That streak exists in real time as Langley relishes with her freshly acquired award in hand.
"First VMA," the 'Dandelion' songstress wrote on her Instagram story, followed by an appreciative nod towards her loyal voters. "Knowing its fan voted makes it so much more special, thank you."
The win feels like a sign of things to come, however, and after the year Langley has spent on charts, seeing massive success from her multiple tour runs, and earning various platinum and gold record certifications, an argument that is perhaps difficult to debate would be that these achievements have another place to be showcased before the year's end: the 60th annual CMA Awards.
Much like the VMAs 'Best Country' category, Langley has been put next to names such as Luke Combs and Lainey Wilson for categories at the CMA Awards, the global country stars competing for the highly regarded 'Entertainer of the Year' award.
For Langley, the show set to air on Nov. 18 may feel like a big fish in a small pond: with the show based around country music and its yearly highlights alone, Langley is up for a record-tying nine nods. Though we won't know what Langley earns until the show airs, given her achievement at the VMAs, the possibility of Langley turning multiple nominations into wins seems promising.
