Harry Styles is taking a leaf out of ex-One Direction band member Niall Horan’s book, and joining the country music boom.

Lainey Wilson will join him as the special guest at Toronto’s 50,000 capacity Rogers Stadium on 7th and 8th May 2027, which, if sold out will put her in front of 100,000 pop fans across two nights. That is what makes this bigger than an ordinary support slot - the genre crossover.

Harry has only just completed 12 Wembley Stadium shows with Shania Twain opening every night. Now, as the Together, Together Tour extends into 2027, he has chosen another country woman to join him.

Let’s be honest, he could have picked anybody. But Harry is repeatedly bringing country music into one of the world’s biggest pop tours and bringing an enormous audience outside our genre with him.

It makes sense. Harry grew up listening to Shania and brought her out during his 2022 Coachella headline set to perform ‘Man! I Feel Like a Woman!’ and ‘You’re Still the One’.

Choosing Lainey continues the country pattern.

It doesn’t mean Harry is about to make a country album, although some are already speculating that this could be on the cards! But it does show how much the genre has moved into mainstream touring and charts.

For Lainey, it is another extraordinary step in a journey that took considerably longer than her recent rise might imply. She moved to Nashville in 2011, lived in a camper trailer for three years and waited almost a decade for ‘Things a Man Oughta Know’ to give her a first country No. 1.

Since then, she has won a Grammy, appeared in Yellowstone, twice been named CMA Entertainer of the Year (and nominated again this year) had her own Netflix documentary and more.

Now, as she gears up for her next album, she is getting access to Harry’s young and global audience. Go Lainey!
