Lainey Wilson has become the first woman in over a decade to have two songs in the Top Ten at Country Radio.
Both ’Heart Like A Truck’ and Lainey's HARDY collaboration, ‘wait in the truck’, have climbed up the charts in the past couple of weeks.
The latter recently received an added boost from a high-profile performance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
‘Heart Like A Truck’, the lead single from Lainey's much-loved 2022 album, Bell Bottom Country, currently sits at No. 7, while ‘wait in the truck’ has leapt up two places to No. 9.
The accolade follows last week's news that, for the first time since 2020, the Mediabase Top Ten featured three songs by women - Gabby Barrett's ‘Pick Me Up’, Carly Pearce's ‘What He Didn't Do’ and ‘Heart Like A Truck’.
Given the fact that Country Radio has historically been male-dominated, many are hoping that the success of these singles is signifying a key shift within the industry.
Lainey also now has two songs at the right end of the Billboard Hot Country chart, with ‘wait in the truck’ joining its fellow 4x4-themed song, ‘Heart Like A Truck’, in the Top Ten this week.
Fans will be hoping that ‘Heart Like A Truck’ continues to rise through the gears and accelerate towards the peak of both the Mediabase and Billboard Hot Country chart in the coming months.
