Kenny Chesney is getting excited for the start of the NFL and college football season in the US, with the ‘Just To Say We Did’ singer-songwriter famously a keen sports fan.
Chesney was a key part of the Boys of Fall documentary in 2010, which explored how football helps to shape the lives of young athletes. The Knoxville native released his now-iconic song of the same name, ‘The Boys of Fall’, in tandem with the film.
Chesney has taken to socials to share a new clip from that documentary featuring a moving speech from his close friend and Denver Broncos head coach, Sean Payton.
In the hearfelt caption, Chesney explains, “Boys Of Fall would not have been the same without my good friend Sean Payton. This is Sean giving a pregame speech in Naperville, Illinois where he played High School football. This speech wasn’t scripted”.
He goes on to share how Payton simply “spoke from [the[ heart”, adding, “Sean is a great football coach but he is a great communicator and motivator. This speech still gives me chills. Sean I am forever grateful. It’s football season everyone. KC”.
College football kicks off later this August, while the long-awaited NFL season gets underway properly in mid-September. It's set to be a packed period for sports fans, with the UK's Premier League season - another kind of ‘football’ - also starting this weekend.
As the leaves start to turn brown, the weather cools and the blankets come out of the cupboard, we're sure that Chesney's ’The Boys of Fall’ and numerous other football-inspired country anthems, such as Morgan Wallen's ‘Had Me By Halftime’ and Megan Moroney's ‘Tennessee Orange’, will be featuring heavily on fans’ Fall playlists.
