Kenny Chesney has been unveiled as a new headliner for June's Carolina Country Music Fest. The ‘No Shoes, No Shirt, No Problems’ hitmaker will replace Morgan Wallen on the line-up, due to Wallen being placed on six weeks of vocal rest after re-injuring his vocal chords.

It's safe to say Kenny Chesney is no stranger to delivering headlining sets during summer festivals, with the Knoxville chart-topper being renowned for his formidable combination of laid-back, tropical-themed ballads and upbeat, carpe-diem anthems.

He'll be bringing his expansive array of hits - along with his loyal No Shoes Nation - to South Carolina's Myrtle Beach, where he'll be performing alongside fellow headliner, Miranda Lambert.

Also set to take the stage on June 10 is HARDY, Brooks & Dunn, Lainey Wilson, Ernest, Whiskey Myers, Megan Moroney, Scotty McCreery, Bailey Zimmerman, Ian Munsick and more.

As well as stepping in for Morgan Wallen at Carolina Country Music Fest 2023, Kenny Chesney has also been recruited to bring a little more sand into Wallen's boots at Florida's Gulf Coast Jam 2023, where he'll be taking the stage on June 3.

In a statement released last night, Carolina Country Music Fest's organisers confirmed the news, explaining, “We have been informed that due to medical reasons, Morgan Wallen will not be able to perform his next six weeks of appearances and that includes CCMF. We are disappointed, as we were excited to host Wallen at CCMF, again, just as much as everyone wanted to see him perform”.

They went on to underline that they're hoping to book Morgan Wallen at next year's instalment, “We are working to reschedule Morgan at CCMF for our 2024 dates and we wish him a speedy recovery. Please be patient with us as we work quickly to update the line up”.

It wasn't long before Kenny Chesney stepped up to the plate and agreed to fill Morgan Wallen's shoes, with Kenny emphasising his sense of anticipation ahead of the two newly added festival appearances, “It’s like an extra little bit of something. We love playing those great big stages, and I think everyone knows that”.

The twelve-time CMA award winner reiterated that it was an easy decision to make when the chance emerged to perform at Gulf Coast Jam and Carolina Country Music Fest, “When we got the call, even though we were basically done, I thought it over, and of course we wanted to be there for the fans. They’re the reason we do this – and the opportunity to step in and let even more people see how white hot and awesome these players are is awesome. Funny how life has a way of stepping in!”

Kenny Chesney is currently in the middle of his hugely popular 2023 I Go Back tour, with dates lined up throughout May in South Dakota, Nebraska, Indiana, South Carolina and Alabama.

After releasing a sweet, heartwarming ode to his dog in December, ‘Da Ruba Girl’, who passed away last year, members of Kenny Chesney's loyal No Shoes Nation fanbase are hoping the country star will be releasing more new music later in the year.
