During her live shows this year, Kelsea Ballerini has remarked how her performance of ‘If You Go Down (I'm Goin’ Down Too)’ seems to grow more unhinged every night.

Now, she's channeled that wonderfully deranged, off-kilter energy into an accompanying music video.

The retro, 60s-inspired visuals follow Kelsea and her best friends as they help one another to cover up an assortment of murders.

The video opens on the ‘Peter Pan’ hitmaker innocently mowing the lawn, before the camera pans down to a severed hand protruding from her flower bed.

Despite the slew of murders that take place - which are often surprisingly graphic - on the whole, the video continues the fun, light-hearted tone of the song, with Kelsea Ballerini's playful performance adding a sense of levity and comedy to each scene.

‘If You Go Down (I'm Goin’ Down Too)’ originally featured on Kelsea's celebrated 2022 album, SUBJECT TO CHANGE, and quickly became a fan-favourite - particularly at her live shows.

The most important of gifts that Ballerini gives us is a record so affectionately her own.

The lyrics find the Tennessee star paying tribute to the close bond she shares with her friends, with the video zeroing in on the tongue-in-cheek line, “I keep all your secrets by the dozen / You know where my skeletons sleep / Hypothetically, if you ever kill your husband / Hand on the Bible, I'd be lyin' through my teeth”.

The video arrives just days before Kelsea Ballerini is due to take the stage to host the 2023 CMT Awards alongside Kane Brown, with Ballerini also battling it out for Female Video of the Year.

That nomination was for another SUBJECT TO CHANGE highlight, ‘Heartfirst’, and fans will no doubt be hoping the new video for ‘If You Go Down (I'm Goin’ Down Too)’ will put Kelsea in contention for the same award at next year's CMTs.
