Jelly Roll has surprised fans by releasing a deluxe version of his brand new album, Beautifully Broken, featuring collaborations with Halsey, ERNEST, Keith Urban, Russ and Skylar Grey.
The new Pickin’ Up The Pieces deluxe project also includes Jelly Roll's momentous collaboration with MGK, ‘Lonely Road’, which has been added onto the project as a bonus track.
Fans are delighted to see ‘Past Yesterday’ with Skylar Grey, which Jelly Roll's wife, Bunnie XO, teased via her socials earlier in the week. The heartbreaking track finds Jelly and Skylar crooning despondently about a young girl who has her innocence stolen cruelly from her by a neighbour, with the song seemingly tackling sexual assault.
The arrival of Beautifully Broken (Pickin’ Up The Pieces) serves as an unexpected but welcome treat for Jelly Roll's loyal fanbase, with the project being taken to 28 songs in total.
The original body of work features much-loved offerings such as ‘I Am Not Okay’, ‘Liar’, ‘Get By’ and ‘Winning Streak’, along with a second MGK duet, the introspective ‘Time of Day’.
Beautifully Broken (Pickin’ Up The Pieces) is pervaded by Jelly Roll's signature vulnerability and rawness, with the ‘Need a Favor’ hitmaker refusing to pursue a commercial route, simply because he now has more eyes on what he's doing compared to last year.
Instead, he's decided to continue exploring themes that few other artists are tackling, as is epitomised on the additional tracks on the deluxe such as ’Past Yesterday’ and ‘Don't Want To’ with Keith Urban, the latter of which delves into the struggles of addiction.
