During the 58th Annual CMA Awards ceremony, Jelly Roll took the stage alongside legendary country duo Brooks & Dunn. Together, they performed a stirring rendition of the group's beloved 2005 hit, 'Believe'.
With Kix Brooks on the keys and a gospel choir upstage, Jelly Roll took the mic for a striking first verse. Ronnie Dunn soon joined him in the emotional narrative song. The three of them put on a spine-tingling display, one that quickly got the crowd on their feet. The camera panned across the audience, catching artists like Carly Pearce and Zach Top singing along. There were even a few tears spotted among spectators.
Not long ago, the duo tasked the 'Save Me' singer with reinterpreting their tune on thee recently released Reboot II collection, the second in a series of star-powered takes on Brooks & Dunn standards. Jelly Roll, in turn, transformed an already moving number into a sweeping masterpiece overflowing with the sensation's trademark intensity.
“The fans that have been with us along the way, I'm sure it's going to be a shock to some of them,” Dunn told Holler of the latest Reboot project. But, in reality, the point of the collections has always been about more than just catering to taste. “The purpose,” Dunn explains, “is just to see what these songs can do and where they can go and have fun at the same time.”
Jelly Roll is up for three awards at the CMAs, having received nods for Male Vocalist of the Year, Album of the Year for his Whitsitt Chapel release and the coveted Entertainer of the Year honor.
Brooks & Dunn are also in the running for Vocal Duo of the Year against Brothers Osborne, Dan + Shay, Maddie & Tae and The War And Treaty.
