Ella Langley and Morgan Wallen's blockbuster collaboration, ‘I Can't Love You Anymore’, has reached No. 1 on the Mediabase Country Radio chart. Wallen explains what drew him to this song in particular, and why he was so keen to work with Langley.

In an official statement, Wallen reveals that he and Langley had been discussing the prospect of collaborating on a song for some time before it finally materialised.

The ‘Last Night’ hitmaker muses, “Ella and I have been talking about doing a song for a little while now. We have been on tour together and I’m a huge fan of what she does”.

The Sneedville native goes on to share how, as soon as he'd heard Langley's demo version of ‘I Can't Love You Anymore’, Wallen couldn't help but fall in love with the track, “She wrote and sent over this song and from the beginning riff, it was hard to deny”.

The ‘Thought You Should Know’ singer-songwriter expresses his pride at getting the chance to team up with Langley, “I’m honored she wanted me to be the one to do it with her”.

As well as surging to No. 1 at Country Radio, ‘I Can't Love You Anymore’ has been a mainstay in the Top Ten of the Billboard Hot 100 since it debuted on the chart in late April.

Having peaked at No. 4 on the Hot 100, ‘I Can't Love You Anymore’ continues a tremendous run from Langley, with the country titan currently having three songs in the Top Ten.

At the time of writing, ‘Choosin’ Texas’ has spent its 17th week at the pinnacle of the Hot 100, making the infectious, Lone Star State-inspired anthem the third-longest-running No. 1 in the history of the chart, behind only Shaboozey (‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’, Lil Nax X and Billy Ray Cyrus (‘Old Town Road’) and Mariah Carey (‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’). Remarkably, ‘Choosin’ Texas’ is showing no signs of slowing, with many tipping it to surpass Shaboozey and Lil Nas X in the coming weeks.

Wallen, meanwhile, is in a Hot 100 streak of his own, with his latest single, ‘Been By Now’, sitting at No. 3. With the help of Stella Lefty's ‘Boston’ and Taylor Swift's ’I Knew It, I Knew You’, it's safe to say it's a very country-dominated Hot 100.

Which makes ‘I Can't Love You Anymore’ feel all the more special. It's rare for country music's leading artists to combine at the height of their powers in this way, but we've been treated to a collaboration between Wallen and Langley while they're both enjoying lengthy stints at the business-end of the charts with their solo work.

We've also been able to witness Langley and Wallen performing ‘I Can't Love You Anymore’ on the latter's Still the Problem Tour each night, with their joint rendition of the heartbroken, will-they-won't-they ode one of the many highlights of the show.

Their warm friendship and chemistry radiates through every performance, and with Wallen's tour now wrapped, we're hoping we'll get to see these country trailblazers linking up again to sing ‘I Can't Love You Anymore’ during Langley's remaining 2026 shows.
