Lainey Wilson is the latest country music star to collaborate with Joey and Steven from Are You Kidding TV, getting the public to join in on an arbitrary task for a cash reward.
Stood outside the Bridgestone Arena at the top of Broadway, Nashville, the star semi-disguised herself in a cap and sunglasses while passersby read the instructions on Joey’s t-shirt.
The task was clear. “First person to sing us a Lainey Wilson song while wearing bell bottoms gets $500 and a round on Lainey at her bar.”
In a Luke Combs t-shirt and the required bell bottoms, one fan stepped up. Racing to find the lyrics on her phone, she gave it her best shot. “I feel so embarrassed right now,” she laughed as she sang Wilson’s ‘Heart Like A Truck’ to her deadpan audience of three.
After Wilson gave the nod of approval – on both song and bell bottoms – the fan was given her $500 cash prize. “I’m Lainey,” she smiled nonchalantly as she shook the winner’s hand.
As promised, Lainey Wilson took the winner to her Bell Bottom’s Up bar and treated her to a round before adding, “You won $500, I’m gonna match the $500 towards a charity of your choice”. The Louisiana native released the bar's long-teased theme-song, the playful, traditional-leaning ‘Bell Bottoms Up’, last Friday (April 4th).
It’s not yet clear what charity was picked, but the fan’s choice of song was a perfect complement to Wilson’s philanthropic nature. Her Heart Like A Truck Fund has supported and donated to a plethora of causes over the years, including most recently providing a generous donation to Family Alliance in Music to support the families of music industry professionals.
