It's pretty wild just how sudden an impact Hudson Westbrook has had on the country music landscape these last six months.
Ever since he stopped loading the feed sack in Lubbock, Texas, the guy has gone from strength to strength; the release of his Valentine's Day song 'Dressed Down' just the latest in a line of immediately beloved singles that seem to hit the million mark on Spotify before you've had time to blink on Saturday morning.
Really, it shouldn't be a surprise as to why. With songs as smooth and romantic as sipping the finest bottle of wine in a sexy Italian restaurant, Westbrook has swept a heck of a lot of us off our feet. I mean, how can you not melt and go weak at the knees at the mere sound of those opening guitar notes of 'Take Your Time'?
It certainly seems Westbrook has intention of slowing down; things, in his eyes, just beginning. In a new interview with Holler during CRS Week 2025 (February 20), the young Texan artist set out his plans for his debut project, something he confirms will have a LOT of songs; "we don't know if it'll be 19, 17, 16, but you can expect a lot of songs, and you can expect, I hope, good songs. We've been working hard on them."
With his first full-length in mind, Westbrook confirmed we can expect the journey towards the project to begin next month. "I drop my favorite song I've ever written next month, and it's gonna build into everything".
"It's called 'Weatherman' and It's so different, I love it."
With Hudson's unveiling of the next single, he confirms that while it may feel different, we can certainly be safe in the knowledge that the song will have that already familiar sultry, Stapleton-esque blues tone that we've grown to love; "I have my sound sonically figured out, I don't think I'll ever change my sound. I think it'll be what I sing about that changes, with time".
We couldn't be more excited for the first full-length project from the 'Five To Nine' singer, and seemingly neither can he; "I'm so excited, it's so hard not to give you this, this and this, but it'll be sooner than later."
"I spent this week writing. I spent the week before writing, and I think I've gotten six songs that I love, that we've found just this week. And so now we got to sit down and really, really dial them in. I won't put any filler songs on there".
