Speaking to Holler, Ernest has underlined his excitement at the prospect of rejoining Morgan Wallen's One Night At A Time world tour this week for a run of shows in Chicago.
As well as being good friends, the two Tennessee natives enjoy a Platinum-studded co-writing relationship that has spawned hits such as ‘You Proof’, ‘Wasted On You’ and ‘Broadway Girls’.
The ‘Miss That Girl’ singer-songwriter is due to open for Wallen during the Sneedville megastar's first show back following his six-week hiatus. Wallen re-injured his vocal chords in May, and was placed on voice rest by his team of doctors over the next month and a half.
Thankfully, though, Morgan Wallen is back in action this evening (June 22), which means we'll once again be treated to another stellar opening set from Ernest, which tends to feature fan-favourites such as ‘This Fire’, ‘Anything But Sober’ and ‘Burn Out’.
Chatting ahead of his run of shows in The Windy City, Ernest underlined to Holler that he can't wait to get back out there with Morgan Wallen, “I’m grateful to be touring with one of my best friends, and look forward to getting back out there in Chicago this weekend!”
Ernest usually rejoins his good buddy, Morgan Wallen, during his headlining performance for a special version of one of their much-loved collaborations, ‘Flower Shops’ or ’Cowgirls’, the latter of which appears on Wallen's record-breaking 2023 album, One Thing At A Time.
Ernest will perform at both of Wallen's Chicago, Illinois shows on June 22 and 23, before travelling with him to all of his summer dates, including tour-stops in Michigan, California, Arizona and more.
The award-winning songsmith has spoken in the past about the special bond he shares with Morgan Wallen, and how this often translates into magic in the writing room, “It’s so cool to have a cut on the biggest record, particularly with your best friend. It's weird to see how big that all got because at the end of the day, we're just two buddies writing songs. We think it sounds cool, and for that many people to agree is just an affirmation. We might be crazy, but we're not that crazy!”
It's safe to say Chicago's loyal country fanbase will be be keenly looking forward to seeing Ernest and Morgan Wallen link up once again this evening and tomorrow night, as Wallen's One Night At A Time world tour officially gets underway once again.
