Ed Sheeran has name-dropped new friend, Megan Moroney, as an artist that he and his family enjoy listening to in a recent podcast interview with Louis Theroux.
Since playing together at his Bluebird Café Writer’s Round earlier this year, Moroney and Sheeran seem to have developed a wholesome friendship - and we are here for it.
In a recent discussion with Louis Theroux, Sheeran shared that he and his family are officially Emo Cowgirls. Okay, well, he didn’t say that exactly, but they do appear to be big fans…
The ‘Shape of You’ hitmaker explained, “I just bought this brilliant country artist called Megan Moroney, her record, that my kids love and my wife loves, and it just has lived in our kitchen and we just flip it every morning and we listen to it and we love it”.
Same, Ed, same.
After talking to Theroux about how he stopped listening to music because he was surrounded by it through work, Sheeran shared that he then rediscovered his passion for records after having children, and realised how quiet the house had been before.
Now, the Sheerans are flipping pancakes (we assume) while flipping Megan Moroney’s vinyl in their kitchen and the question on everybody’s lips is – is there a collaboration on the way? During a chat with Audacy's Katie & Company, Moroney joked that she's emailed Sheeran about a joint track, but she is yet to hear back.
Sheeran has made no secret of the fact that he wants to not just make a country album, but ‘transition to country music’. With their recent friendship blossoming and Sheeran shouting her out on Theroux’s podcast, could there be an Ed Sheeran ft. Megan Moroney track hitting our playlists sometime soon? We absolutely hope so.
