During a light-hearted new interview with Caleb Pressley and Glenny Balls, when asked if she's a fan of Ella Langley, Doja Cat reveals she's never heard of the ’Choosin’ Texas’ hitmaker.

After an admittedly hilarious ‘Darth Vader, Ella Vader’ joke from Pressley, the Sundae Conversation host playfully asks Doja, “Did you think I was talking about Ella Langley?”

He goes to ask if Doja would consider herself a part of Langley's fanbase, “Are you an Ella's Fella?”, with the ‘Jealous Type’ rapper bluntly responding, “I don't know what that is”.

Pressley continues, “Do you like Ella Langley?”, with Doja again replying, “I don't know what that is”, before she repeats the name a couple of times, trying to see if it rings any bells.

Although it's easy to interpret this as a slight from Doja Cat, it feels more like an artist who quite simply - and quite innocently - hasn't come across Langley's music. Doja tends to move within the Hip Hop and R&B world, and judging by Pressley's remarks later in the interview about making a country song, with the comedian writing a tongue-in-cheek ‘truck song’ for her, it seems she doesn't really listen to the genre.

That being said, given the fact that ‘Choosin’ Texas’ is on the cusp of becoming the joint longest-running non-holiday Billboard Hot 100 No. 1, with the infectious track transcending the genre and becoming its own cultural moment - with even Drake getting involved - it is certainly surprising that Doja hasn't at least heard of Langley.

Either way, given how many artists from across an array of genres are showing love to Langley at the moment, we don't think she'll be fretting over the fact that Doja doesn't know her. With Drake being the most recent and the most high-profile artist to champion ‘Choosin’ Texas’, there's now widespread speculation that Drizzy and Langley might have a collaboration up their sleeves. Should that blockbuster link-up come to fruition, it would send ripples across the music world - and we think it's safe to say Doja will then be more than aware who she is.
