Cody Johnson has released his latest single, ‘The Painter’, with the heartwarming new song due to appear on the Texan hitmaker's upcoming double-album, Leather.
In a conversation with Spencer Graves, Cody shared that the new single, ’The Painter’, will be sent to Country Radio on August 14th. This will ensure anticipation is high in the lead-up to the ‘‘Til You Can't’ songsmith's hotly anticipated next album.
Additionally, Cody Johnson confirmed the new project, entitled ‘Leather’, will be released either in November or December 2023. Excitingly, the record will comprise 24 songs.
As part of the interview, the chart-topping singer-songwriter revealed he also has a ‘concept album’ called ‘The Cowboy Sessions’ in the pipeline, although the release date for this is yet to be confirmed. The project will feature renditions of iconic ‘old cowboy songs’ by the likes of George Strait, Marty Robbins, Willie Nelson and more.
Leather, Cody's next studio album, is set to be released before The Cowboy Sessions, with the former expected to feature previously teased duets with Carrie Underwood and Jelly Roll.
It's been two years since Human, Cody Johnson's last full-length studio album - not including his acclaimed 2022 live project - but it seems fans have plenty of new music to look forward to.
As well as having Leather and The Cowboy Sessions lined up, Cody expressed his desire to one day create a bluegrass album, a gospel album and a rock album.
Given the plethora of blockbuster projects that have been released by the genre's biggest stars in 2023, along with new albums on the way from Chris Stapleton, Zach Bryan, Cody Johnson and more, it's safe to say it's a wonderful year to be a country music fan.
