The ACM Award for Album of the Year has been won by Chris Stapleton.

'Starting Over', his latest record, was produced by Dave Cobb and himself, and was released through Mercury Nashville.

It topped the country charts and sold over 100,000 units in its first week.

The first Album of the year Award was presented to Glen Campbell in 1968 for his record ‘Gentle On My Mind’.

Chris Stapleton was the only artist nominated in this category to have won the award before, twice in fact - for his records ‘Traveller’ and ‘From A Room’.

Miranda Lambert opened the show with Elle King, performing 'Drunk (And I Don't Wanna Go Home)', before joining Jon Randall and Jack Ingram to perform 'In His Arms'.

She also duetted with Chris Stapleton on his track 'Maggie's Song' later on in the show.
