After confirming he'd be releasing a brand new album on November 10, Chris Stapleton has made the project's lead single, ‘White Horse’, available immediately.
The fiery, guitar-driven track is the first taste fans have been given of Stapleton's fifth studio album, Higher, which appeared on Apple Music in a number of countries yesterday as a pre-release.
Following much speculation, the Kentucky chart-topper took to social media to unveil the new record, as well as revealing that ‘White Horse’ would be his new single.
The track, which is out now on all platforms, finds Stapleton once again capturing the simmering intensity and swagger of fan-favourites such as ‘Watch You Burn’ and ‘Cold’. On ‘White Horse’, the ‘Tennessee Whiskey’ hitmaker's weathered, soulful vocals add another layer of ferocity to the searing anthem.
‘White Horse’ will have no doubt heightened the sense of anticipation ahead of the release of Higher in November, which will be Chris Stapleton's first full-length album since 2020's Starting Over.
Along with ‘White Horse’, Higher will include a couple of previously performed unreleased tracks, ‘Crosswind’ and ‘It Takes A Woman’, as well as never-heard-before offerings, such as ‘South Dakota’, ‘What Am I Gonna Do’, ‘Loving You On My Mind’ and ‘Weight Of Your World’.
With Stapleton having a couple of hotly anticipated shows lined up at Nashville's Nissan Stadium with George Strait and Little Big Town towards the end of July, many are expecting him to use this occasion to perform a live debut of ‘White Horse’.
