Charley Crockett took the Jimmy Kimmel Live stage for a swaggering rendition of his brand new single, ‘$10 Cowboy’, which is set to appear on his upcoming album of the same name.
The appearance came just a few hours after the Texas crooner announced the keenly awaited project, which is due to be made available everywhere on April 26th 2024.
Charley Crockett performed the meandering, slow-burning track against an evocative backdrop of retro storefronts emblazoned with ‘Mustang Jewelry & Pawn Casa De Empeño’, which helped to transport viewers to the sepia-tinged streets of old Austin.
The ‘I'm Just A Clown’ singer-songwriter brought his trademark charm and charisma to the late-night TV show, with Charley Crockett concluding the classic country performance with a short speech about what the new song means to him.
As part of his new single and album unveiling, the bearded songsmith explained that a ‘$10 Cowboy’ is “a country singer who made himself on a street corner in America. But the cowboy way, the cowboy mindset, that applies to anyone who doesn’t feel free, who feels fenced in and bound to something”.
It's a story that rings true for Charley, who spent his early career hopping trains as he moved from state to state, and the evocative song has no doubt whetted fans’ appetites for the album.
