In the past few months, Charles Wesley Godwin has already treated listeners to a plethora of new music, with the West Virginia songsmith having released his Live from the Church EP in February.

Aside from this, he's also been teasing a variety of unreleased songs, which fans are hoping will feature on Wesley Godwin's upcoming follow-up album to 2021's How The Mighty Fall.

Thankfully, it seems Charles Wesley Godwin's creative juices are still well and truly flowing. Although not an original song, fans were still delighted to see Wesley Godwin sharing a clip of a brand new cover of Merle Haggard's ‘Silver Wings’ across his socials.

In typical Charles Wesley Godwin fashion, he delivers a haunting, spine-tingling rendition of the classic track. His vocals weave serenely in and out of the unassuming strum of his acoustic guitar, as he sings mournfully about his lover leaving him on a plane (“Silver wings / Shining in the sunlight / Roaring engines / Headed somewhere in flight”).

Haggard first released ‘Silver Wings’ back in 1969, with the California native having supposedly penned the track during a flight from Phoenix to Los Angeles, accompanied by his wife.

Charles Wesley Godwin's new rendition certainly does the sinuous ballad justice, and fans will be wondering whether he might even include it on his upcoming studio album.
