Brian Kelley is sharing his first new song since the Florida Georgia Line reunion, with the self-professed Beach Cowboy premiering ‘Jimmy Buffett Summer’ exclusively on Holler.

In case you hadn't seen all the ‘Jimmybuffettmaxxing’ TikTok videos, the sunny, margarita-infused lifestyle of the late Gulf and Western icon has blossomed into a 2026 summer trend. And thanks to Brian Kelley, we now have the perfect soundtrack to go with it.

Kelley, a longstanding fan of Buffett's coastal odes and saltwater-soaked anthems, is releasing the playful ‘Jimmy Buffett Summer’ - the first song co-written with his wife, Brittney. The song is out on Wednesday, July 1st, but as a special treat for all our Beach Country aficionados, you can hear it a day early exclusively on Holler below.

Speaking to Holler ahead of the release, Kelley reflects on the experience of writing with Brittney, the latest in a string of collaborations including their popular Tribe Kelley brand, “Brittney and I have created a clothing line, a surf shop, a burger joint, and a million memories together. Writing a song together was only a matter of time”.

The ‘Made By The Water’ hitmaker expands, “This wasn’t a planned writing session - blame it on a rainy day at the beach, an acoustic guitar staring at me in the corner, the title, and both of us being huge Buffett fans. We just allowed the moment and song to happen and had an absolute blast creating it! It’s one thing to write about your muse, and a whole other experience to write music with your muse”.

Buffett, of course, became synonymous with his penchant for a laidback, Hawaiian-shirt-adorned way of life, with the ‘Boat Drinks’ crooner heading up Margaritaville empire that embodies his beachside, glass-half-full outlook. Within today's generation of country artists, few capture the spirit of Buffett's music as sincerely and as consistently as Kelley, so it feels apt that he is the one to honour the Margaritaville tycoon in this way with the upbeat, joyful ‘Jimmy Buffett Summer’.

With Buffett-esque steel-pan flourishes combining with a bright, galvanising guitar riff, Kelley's vocals cut lucidly through the instrumental like a jet-ski speeding across the waves.

While the excitement is naturally through the roof at the prospect of new music from FGL, the arrival of Kelley's ‘Jimmy Buffett Summer’ is a welcome signal that their reunion doesn't mean he'll be slowing down his Beach Country solo material anytime soon.

Kelley's debut album, Sunshine State of Mind, remains a touchstone for this rum-fuelled, ocean-inspired sub-genre, with the Floridian showcasing his ability to flit between heartfelt and often spiritually-minded subject matter and lighter, sun-dazed textures.

And that's what has always been at the heart of Buffett's music. Whether he is singing about surfing or heartbreak, the adventures of smuggling pirates or the challenges of aging, there is a deeper message of seizing the day and living in the moment that lies beneath it all. It's aspirational and fanciful, but it's not pure escapism.

Rather than using the ocean, the beach and the sun to simply switch off from your problems for a moment, there's a sense that you also uncover something about yourself in the process, and Kelley's Sunshine State of Mind series epitomises this. It's fun and it's carefree, but there's a pertinent message of healing under it all.

With ‘Jimmy Buffett Summer’, which was produced by Katlin Owen, following similarly sandy offerings such as ‘B-Y-O-Beach’ with fellow coastal cowboy Niko Moon, ‘Queen of 30A’ and ‘93 in the Keys’, we're hoping this means the third instalment in Kelley's stellar Sunshine State of Mind series is bobbing happily on the horizon.
