The friendship between Brad Paisley and Megan Moroney is no secret in the country music world - in fact, we we've all been witness to a host of their heartwarming celebrations of each other on social media. Knowing that the two remain superfans first, friends second, Paisley sent the ‘Cloud 9’ hitmaker an exciting gift this week.

On July 17th, Paisley released his latest album, Tacklebox - Disc 1, a project that sees the singer diving into his back-catalogue to return to some unreleased and unrecorded music.

Pairing the long lost 90s tracks with some new recently written songs, the album sits firmly in a traditional sound and calls back to some of the West Virginian's earlier music. Ahead of the collection's release, Paisley reflected, “They came from or were written about a nostalgic time period, a style of writing, and a sound”.

The ‘Whiskey Lullaby’ singer adds, “We wanted to give listeners that special feeling of playing a vinyl album or CD all the way through, if you listened to it top to bottom.”

With the album being so strongly reminiscent of a ‘90s sound, it’s a little more fitting to be listening on physical media, especially in the midst of the age of streaming. It looks like he took that one step further for fellow country star, Moroney. The Georgia native has taken to social media to share a photograph of a very special gift from Paisley.

The ‘Tennessee Orange’ singer-songwriter received an “unofficial” copy of Tacklebox - Disc 1, no CD case or album cover, but instead “Megan, I’m YOUR biggest fan - BP” written on the CD. The duo have exchanged compliments for a couple of years now, with Moroney claiming that Mud on the Ties is “my favorite album of all time” back at the beginning of 2025. To that comment, Paisley replied that it “made my day”.

Following up that exchange, Moroney posted on her social media that when she got a new car, she had “christened the baby with a little BP”. Perhaps the new album will replace Moroney’s beloved Mud On The Tires, especially with the special story attached to it.

The Brad Paisley Live Tour is set to begin on August 27, and Moroney is currently on the road on her Cloud 9 run. Given their tight friendship, we’re hoping that there might be some opportunity for a crossover and a couple of surprise appearances in store...
