One of country music's up-and-coming artists, Alex Hall, has shared his first new single since 2021.

Fans are hoping the emotive track, ‘Side Effects Of The Heart’, will form part of an eagerly awaited debut studio album from Hall.

The dramatic, uptempo anthem showcases Alex Hall's ear for a show-stopping hook, which acts as the keystone amidst a couple of sinuous verses.

The Georgia native released his celebrated Six Strings EP back in February 2021, which featured high-profile appearances from the likes of John Osborne, Vince Gill, Tenille Townes and Brad Paisley. Ever since then, listeners have been clamouring for new music from Hall.

‘Side Effects Of The Heart’ mirrors the rollercoaster of emotions that being in love takes us on, with the various peaks and troughs of the song accentuating the overarching message of the song.

As the rip-roaring ride eases and the electrifying hook slows in its tracks, Alex Hall sings with a playfully resigned shrug, “There's no cure for it / And that's the hardest part”.

Speaking to Holler ahead of the release, Hall explained the rationale behind the new single, “I believe ‘Side Effects Of The Heart’ is an all-around relatable song.

I tend to let my heart lead the way, like a lot of us do, and this song paints a picture of all that comes alongside that”.

Excitingly, the singer-songwriter also teased that ‘Side Effects Of The Heart’ will not be an isolated release, “This track sets the tone so well for the new music I’ve been creating that will be rolling out this year, and I can’t wait to share it all.

Until then, remember that ‘we’re all a mess living with the side effects of the heart’”.

Alex Hall is currently out on the road supporting Caitlyn Smith on her popular Great Pretender 2023 tour, with shows lined up in North Carolina, Idaho Colorado and Hall's home-state of Georgia.
