In his feature interview with Holler, which took place while Shaboozey was in London, UK for C2C Festival 2025, the ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’ hitmaker has touched on his collaborative partnership with rapper BigXthaPlug, paying homage to his character.
The duo first linked up for the addictive, trap-infused ‘Drink Don't Need No Mix’, one of the many highlights from Shaboozey's 2024 record, Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going.
That earworm found the ‘Last Of My Kind’ crooner tipping his cap to the Hip-Hop-leaning sonics of his earlier material and stepping back into a space that BigXthaPlug primarily operates in. Now, the latter is joining Shaboozey in the country music world.
BigXthaPlug has been teasing his debut country EP for the past few months, with the Texas native reeling off a guest-list that reads like a who's-who of today's biggest artists.
Shaboozey & BigXthaPlug
BigXthaPlug has cited Morgan Wallen, Post Malone, Luke Combs, Jelly Roll and Shaboozey as features on the EP. While Shaboozey reveals to Holler that he is still waiting to cut a track for the project, he assures listeners he will ultimately appear alongside his friend, “I haven't done a song yet...but I'm definitely on it, I'm definitely on it”.
Endearingly, Shaboozey went on the pay homage to how kind-hearted BigXthaPlug is, “Man, he's amazing, that's my guy. He's just a humble guy, a loving man and a great guy”.
He expanded, “Everyone around him loves him, he takes care of his people, his family, he's just a really stand-up guy. I think he's one of the most polarising people in music right now”.
Although BigXthaPlug often serves up fiery, uncompromising rap anthems, the genre-blending artist has become synonymous with his willingness to be vulnerable with fans through his music, as he showcased throughout his lauded 2024 TAKE CARE record.
We're hoping Shaboozey sticks to his word and joins BigXthaPlug on the forthcoming project, with the rollout for the highly anticipated country EP seemingly picking up pace.
The lead single from the project is believed to be the Bailey Zimmerman-assisted ’All The Way’, which BigXthaPlug first teased on Valentine's Day, with the infectious track promptly going viral on TikTok. Earlier in the week, BigX and Zimmerman confirmed ‘All The Way’ would be made available to stream on Friday, April 4th.
Shaboozey, meanwhile, is also gearing up to treat us to new music. Elsewhere during his conversation with Holler, the West Virginia trailblazer hinted that he might have a deluxe version of Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going up his sleeve, as well as sharing that his dream collaboration would be with Atlanta trap titan, Future.
