‘You & Me Time’ by Ella Langley - Lyrics & Meaning

One of the more carefree and playful offerings on Ella Langley's sophomore album, Dandelion, ‘You & Me Time’ is a refreshingly light-hearted snapshot into a relationship.

It finds the narrator lamenting how they've been struggling to find enough space in their hectic schedules to spend quality moments with one another of late. Across this joyful, summery ode, Langley outlines how she plans to make up for lost time.

‘You & Me Time’ carries a lovely sense of levity throughout the narrative, and this is reflected in the bright, almost beach-country-esque composition. Langley laces an easy, laidback feel into her vocal delivery, while Dave Cohen and Spencer Cullum help to keep things light through the Hammond A100 and pedal steel respectively.

Keep an ear out from the second chorus for backing vocals from Langley's co-writers Joybeth Taylor and Aaron Raitiere, along with co-producers Ben West and Miranda Lambert.

The message of ‘You & Me Time’ is clear throughout - the narrator and her partner have been running around trying to keep up with their chaotic calendars, which has meant they've grown a little distant. There's a charming sense of simplicity that foreshadows ‘Somethin’ Simple’ on Dandelion, where Langley reaches the realisation that the bright stadium lights and chart-topping hits aren't where true happiness lies - rather, it's in the little things. On ‘You & Me Time’, Langley creates this sense of easy, no-frills romance when she describes how they can enjoy some red wine out of coffee cups. It might not be high-brow and fancy, but if they're together, then that's all that matters.
