The Background:
Reports first started emerging in the summer of 2025 that Noah Kahan was in talks to contribute a song to the official Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping soundtrack album.
After the arrival of Kahan's 2026 record, The Great Divide: The Last Of The Bugs, the Vermont native shared a set of lyrics via X from a song seemingly titled ‘Draw You Out’.
Then, in September, the Vermont native returned to his TikTok burner account, @thelastofthebugs, to start teasing new music, with fans speculating that this was his Hunger Games song. Once the Sunrise on the Reaping album had been unveiled towards the end of the month, and a song titled ‘Draw You Out’ appeared on the tracklist, Kahan shared a clip of what is assumed to be ‘Draw You Out’. He captioned this, ‘Ladybug, fly away home’, a line from the Sunrise on the Reaping book.
It serves as a heartwarming redemption arc for the ‘Orbiter’ singer-songwriter, after he revealed he'd previously been asked to write a song for an unnamed movie - which fans assume to be To All The Boys, P.S. I Still Love You - but was then reportedly ghosted. Now, it seems he has a song in one of the biggest movies of the year.
The Sound:
‘Draw You Out’ feels cut from the same cloth as Kahan's atmospheric, folk-leaning 2026 album, The Great Divide: The Last Of The Bugs. In the snippet shared via his socials, Kahan's aching vocals stretch across a haunting, guitar-driven instrumental.
The Meaning:
‘Draw You Out’ appears to explore the reconciliation of a long-lost friendship or relationship, with our protagonist admitting they revisit the places they used to spend time together.
Our narrator explains that he carries the memory of them with him wherever he goes, before confirming that they are no longer with him, sharing that this memory is “all I have now”.
However, there is an uplifting, hopeful tone permeating ‘Draw You Out’, with the thought and memory of this absent friend bringing our protagonist joy, rather than pain or regret (“I draw you out / From the edge of my mouth / It feels good to say your name”).
What has Noah Kahan said about ‘Draw You Out’?
When asked by ENews at the 2026 Emmys about whether he's ever had an interest in “creating a musical or a show or background for like a soundtrack, a score”, Kahan smiled wryly.
Kahan remained fairly tight-lipped, but seemingly hinted that something big was on the horizon, “Yeah, I have. We actually just had the opportunity to do so, which I'm really excited about...I can't tell you anymore, really. But yeah, we got something. I got that thing on me right now. So yeah, I got something in the works. I can't speak much about it, or my publicist will throw me into the trash can over there, but very excited about what we have. And it was a really cool opportunity”.
