Dustin Lynch has released his new track, ‘Chevrolet’, featuring vocals from genre-blending chart-topper, Jelly Roll. The laid-back anthem will appear on Lynch's upcoming album, Killed The Cowboy.
‘Chevrolet’ finds the two hitmakers trading endearing, lovestruck verses about the the rose-tinted freedom of a classic country love story (“I think I fell in love right then and therе / We were at thе door before the end of the song / I said where to, she said I don't care / Just don't take me home, what you waiting on?”).
Speaking ahead of the release, Dustin Lynch explained why he was compelled to record ‘Chevrolet’, which revamps Dobie Gray's 1973 hit, ‘Drift Away’, “There is something in the air in Nashville right now, where writers are on the same wavelength and doing cool things like interpolating classic songs into something new”.
The Tennessee native underlined how the inclusion of his BBR Music Group labelmate, Jelly Roll, on the song made it all the more special, “When ‘Chevrolet’ came across our plate, it floored me. Everyone knows Dobie Gray’s ‘Drift Away’ - the melody of that song is timeless. Having Jelly Roll on it adds an extra edge”.
Dustin Lynch will undoubtedly be hoping the breezy, sun-soaked track will emulate the 2023 ACM-Award-winning success of Cole Swindell's ‘She Had Me At Heads Carolina’, which interpolates Jo Dee Messina's iconic 1996 track, ‘Heads Carolina, Tails California’.
‘Chevrolet’ will be joined on Dustin Lynch's upcoming album, Killed The Cowboy, by the already-released title-track, along with ‘Listen To The Radio’, ‘Long Way Home’, ‘Only Girl In This Town’ and more. Killed The Cowboy is due to be made available on September 29 2023.
