Due to the success of its first festival, which took place in Carson Valley's Corley Ranch, BackCountry will make its celebrated return from May 31 to June 2.

The first phase of talent for 2024 has already been announced with multi-Platinum entertainer Justin Moore leading the bill. Also on hand will be Brent Cobb, Josh Meloy, Kat Hasty, Zandi Holup, Eric Lindell and more.

In its most recent wave of lineup announcements, the festival will also play host to Holler favorites Charles Wesley Godwin, Lauren Watkins and Evan Hoenr, as well as The Cadillac Three, Canaan Smith, Ashley Monroe and others.

BackCountry Festival enjoyed a stellar inaugural event in early June 2023, with the likes of Midland, Ashley McBryde, Hailey Whitters and Nicholas Jamerson & The Morning Jays all taking the stage in Nevada.

The crowd sang their collective heart out to Midland's addictive, whiskey-drenched anthems, such as ‘Drinkin’ Problem’, ‘Mr. Lonely’ and ‘If I Lived Here’, while attendees were also treated to a fiery rendition of Ashley McBryde's chart-topping hit, ‘One Night Standards’. 

The 2023 edition of BackCountry Festival featured a plethora of culinary delights and activities which complimented the blistering sets from the weekend's roster of performers. 

The musical focus was centered around country music's exciting, boundary-pushing outer edges, while still embracing mainstream acts that have become household names within the genre.

Charles Wesley Godwin’s rustic imagery and traditional-leaning Americana sound has spawned comparisons with contemporaries such as Tyler Childers. While this assessment is an oversimplification, there is a notable similarity in the way that Godwin does not make any attempt to meet the listener where they are; if they want to enjoy the music, they’ll have to follow Godwin on a rocky trail through his Appalachian soundscape and into an entirely unique world full of enchanting characters.

Although he pointedly refuses to pander to mainstream impulses, the palette with which Godwin paints is nonetheless easy on the eye, and proves accessible to cosmic-country die-hards and boyfriend-country flag-bearers alike.

, was met with resounding acclaim, as the West Virginia native crafted a sound that felt expansive and cinematic, while at the same time being lucidly tuned-in to the details and specificities of the subject matter.

The project stood largely as an ode to his Morgantown roots, and Godwin maintained his charmingly grounded sensibilities throughout his follow-up 2021 album, 

. However, his 2021 offering widened the canvas and tested out new territory - both thematically and sonically.

The driving force that underpins Charles Wesley Godwin’s musical mission statement - and what many would argue should be at the heart of all country music - is a love of timeless storytelling. The listener meets a host of bewitching characters throughout Godwin’s discography, from the tragic tale of Claire, the mayor’s daughter, in ‘Cranes of Potter’, to the embattled protagonist of ‘Seneca Creek’.

Godwin continues to bring the soft, Autumnal glow of his warm melodies and wistful lap steel guitar to crowds across the US, having recently finished a hugely successful tour supporting fellow country-folk progressive, Zach Bryan.

Music has a way of transporting us to different places in time, even if we've never actually been there ourselves.

Some songs and artists take you back to your firsts–first love, first dates, first kisses and the like–while others dig up forgotten memories and moments from our pasts. However, some truly transcendent artists and songs take you back in time to another decade altogether, which is where Big Loud newcomer Lauren Watkins shines.

Fit with Watkins' neotraditional sound and gravely growl, the 23-year-old Nashville native's music transports you back to smokey dive bars somewhere in the '70s. Mixing up classic country tropes with her own contemporary flair, she is on track to become one of the format's newest stars.

Raised just on the outskirts of Music City, a young Watkins was immersed in the artistry of classic country and southern rock, as well as a heaping dose of modern day chart-toppers like Eric Church, Miranda Lambert and Chris Stapleton.

After spending her teenage years playing cover sets up and down Broadway, Watkins moved to Mississippi for a stint where she attended Ole Miss in search of a marketing degree. While there, the burgeoning young singer discovered her love for country music's signature storytelling and took her artistry to a collection of Mississippi's local dives and holes-in-the-wall where she proceeded to hone her skills.

Since making her way back to the country music capital of the world and quickly catching the attention of Grammy-nominated songwriter Nicolle Galyon, who signed her to a publishing deal with Songs & Daughters, Watkins spent much of 2022 teasing fans new and old with a string of acoustic covers from Sheryl Crow and Ashley McBryde to Morgan Wallen and ERNEST, while also sharing her own burst of unreleased tracks.

Signing to Big Loud Records / Songs & Daughters in April of 2023, Watkins officially made her entry as an artist with the release of her seven-song EP, aptly titled Introducing: Lauren Watkins.

Featuring standout hits-in-the-making 'Shirley Temple' and 'Anybody But You,' the project lays a strong foundation for one of the brightest and most exciting female artists of this era of country music.

Ashley Monroe began singing at a young age - even winning a talent contest at age 11. But it would take a few more years before she brought her talent to Nashville. 

Once she relocated to Music City, she landed a songwriting publishing deal that eventually led to a record deal with Sony Music. Her debut album 

 was ready to go, but her singles weren't charting as well as the label wanted, so they delayed and eventually pulled the plug altogether. 

 to digital retailers in 2009 - following it up with her self-titled EP the same year. Her emotionally driven, pop-country sound caught the attention of Warner Bros. Nashville, who signed Monroe and released her sophomore album 

 in 2013. Grand Ole Opry staple and legendary singer/songwriter Vince Gill produced it. 

, came out in 2015 and was nominated for Best Country Album at the Grammys. Three years later, after giving birth to her son, Monroe released her fourth album 

 in 2018. This time, Dave Cobb served as producer. 

Besides her solo work, Monroe is a member of the supergroup Pistol Annies with Miranda Lambert and Angaleena Presley. They released the albums 

 on 2018. The latter was nominated for Best Country Album at the Grammys.
