Country music icon, Reba McEntire, is no stranger to the silver screen, having appeared in a variety of productions, from the hilarious Barb and Star Go to Vista Del Mar to the festive Christmas in Tune. Now, McEntire has a starring role in Lifetime's latest film, The Hammer.
Reba's character, Kim, is the driving force behind the tense, sinuous storyline, which begins with Kim's appointment as a new Nevada judge.
With the former judge's death occurring under suspicious circumstances, the dark plot unfurls to reveal that someone close to Kim is the No. 1 suspect.
Reba spoke about how she felt an immediate connection with Kim, remarking that, “I loved the script for The Hammer and could definitely identify with the tough, no-nonsense spirit of the real life person it was based on.”
The country icon also underlined how she leapt at the chance to reunite on-screen with a couple of friendly faces, “How could I say no to getting to work with my boyfriend, Rex Linn, and my Reba tv show co-star Melissa Peterman again? We had the best time!”
The movie is due to air on January 7 at 8/7c via Lifetime. It follows Reba's high-profile introduction into the popular ABC detective series, Big Sky: Deadly Trails, for its third season.
The Oklahoma star has etched her name into country music's history books with an arsenal of legendary hits that includes ‘Fancy’, ‘The Night the Lights Went Out in Georgia’ and ‘Is There Life Out There’.
As she continues her expedition into the world of film and TV with this latest production, fans will be excited to see Reba portraying another strong-willed, sassy character in Kim Wheeler.
The Hammer also features Melissa Peterman, Rex Linn, Matty Finochio, Jill Morrison, Vanesa Tomasino, Garfield Wilson and more.
The Hammer premieres on Lifetime on January 7 at 8/7c.
