Post Malone's country era has brought with it a whole host of special treats, from the announcement of a new album, F-1Trillion, to the unveiling of a slew of colossal collaborations with Morgan Wallen, Lainey Wilson, Luke Combs, Dolly Parton and more.
Just when we thought Posty had gifted us everything we country fans had dreamed of, he revealed a sprawling 2024 F-1Trillion tour, which officially launches on September 8 and 9 at the Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre in Salt Lake City.
Post Malone has called Utah home since 2019, which makes this opening double-header in Salt Lake City all the more meaningful for the ‘I Had Some Help’ singer-songwriter. His F-1Trillion tour is being billed as comprising “A collection of country songs”, which suggests he'll be eschewing most - if not all - of his earlier rap and pop-leaning material in favour of a selection of tracks from the new album.
Posty has now performed a few ‘country’ sets, and across them all he's included a wealth of classic covers. He's performed George Strait's ’Carrying Your Love With Me’ a couple of times, as well as delivering a flurry of stellar renditions of Tyler Childers, Tim McGraw, Toby Keith, Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley and Vince Gill hits.
We suspect his F-1Trillion tour setlist will feature an array of these covers, in addition to a handful of highlights from the album, such as ‘I Had Some Help’, ’Pour Me a Drink’, ‘Guy For That’, ‘Nosedive’, ‘California Sober’ and ‘Wrong Ones’. Given the latter features Tim McGraw and name-checks McGraw's 1994 hit, ’Don't Take the Girl’, it would be a cool move to segue from a cover of the sweet ‘Don't Take the Girl’ - which Posty has performed in the past - into the fiery ’Wrong Ones’.
Bearing in mind that Post Malone boasts more Diamond certifications than any other artist in history, as well as having the only song ever to go double-Diamond, ‘Sunflower’, we imagine he'll have no choice but to sprinkle a few of these colossal anthems into his new show. He's performed country versions of tracks such as ‘rockstar’, ‘Chemical’ and ‘Sunflower’ before, so these may hold their place in his setlist.
The openers for Post Malone's Salt Lake City shows have now been confirmed as traditional-leaning country duo, Muscadine Bloodline. Upon hearing the news, the Alabama crooners shared a heartfelt video expressing their gratitude and citing this tour as something they'll one day tell their grandchildren about. Muscadine Bloodline dropped their new album, The Coastal Plain, on the same day as Post Malone's F-1Trillion.
Muscadine took to X (formerly Twitter) to pay tribute to Posty, “Fun fact: this is actually the 2nd time we have released music the same day as Post Malone last time it happened, he followed us on Twitter when we had like 8k followers. Thats our claim to fame. Ain’t even gonna [cap], love some post. Just seems like an awesome dude”.
In addition, for his headline set, the ‘Chemical’ hitmaker will be joined by a group of instrumentalists that played throughout F-1Trillion. Called ‘The Fools For You’, the band consists of musicians such as Chandler Walters, who usually performs with ERNEST's ‘The Fellas’, along with Luke Marshall, Seth Taylor, Craig Young and more.
Doors open relatively late, compared to regular country shows, with fans only being allowed into the Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre at 8pm. Post Malone tends to take the stage at around 9pm and performs until 11pm, but this can vary.
Posty is known to be a night owl, with many of his F-1Trillion collaborators such as Lainey Wilson and Morgan Wallen joking about how they struggled to keep up with his all-hours sessions, so don't be surprised if he starts and finishes his set a little later.
There are various Utah First Credit Union Amphitheatre parking packages available to purchase here for Posty's two shows, with a choice of Gold and Premium passes on offer.
Throughout Post Malone's chameleonic career, which has seen the New York native dipping his toes into rap, rock, punk and indie-pop, he's experimented with a range of fashion and stylistic options. As a result, it can be tricky to know what to wear to a Posty concert. Should you go for a staple band tee? Or maybe something a little more outlandish, with a few temporary tattoos thrown in for good measure?
To save you the headache of having to decide on the perfect Post Malone concert attire, he's got a sleek, varied range of F-1Trillion merchandise options that serve as the perfect way to proudly toast one of your favourite artists during his live show. Posty will most likely drop some extra tour-specific items, as well, which we can look forward to getting a first glimpse of in Salt Lake City, Utah in September.
As Post Malone revs up and prepares to accelerate away on his first ever country tour, his two Salt Lake City shows will be key indicators that'll largely define the expectations for the remainder of his F-1Trillion run. Whether he mainly does covers, only performs F-1Trillion tracks or slots in some older fan-favourites, one thing is undeniable - Posty, as always, will deliver a spectacular, fun and high-energy performance when he returns to his adopted home-state in early September.
