Jordan Davis - 'In Case You Missed It'

Release Date: February 7th, 2025

Album: TBA

Songwriters: Jordan Davis, Jacob Davis, Paul DiGiovanni & Travis Wood

Producer: Paul DiGiovanni

The Background:

For the last few years, Jordan Davis has been on quite a hot streak, dropping one chart-topping single after another, and it doesn't seem like the well will be running dry anytime soon.

Since releasing 2023's Bluebird Days, which included hits like 'What My World Spins Around,' 'Next Thing You Know,' 'Tucson Too Late' and the Luke Bryan-graced 'Buy Dirt,' the CMA-winning entertainer has finally begun popping out new bits of music.

Starting with last February's 'Good News Sold,' the Louisiana native has also gifted fans with the contemplative 'Know You Like That' and the 8x UK Country Radio Airplay Chart No. 1, 'I Ain't Sayin'.'

All signs are pointing towards a new album coming our way soon as Davis adds another tune to the pile with 'In Case You Missed It.'

The Sound:

'In Case You Missed It' takes on what has become Jordan Davis' signature sound, marrying elements of country, rock, pop and R&B into a combination entirely his own.

At one moment fronted by a picking acoustic guitar and a twangy banjo, the next turns on an 808 drum beat and rock-leaning electric guitar, all working together in perfect harmony and almost making you forget that the song in question isn't exactly as energetic or positive as the sound suggests.

Produced by former lead guitarist of pop-rock band Boys Like Girls, Paul DiGiovanni, you can hear those influences laced across the track, which was written by DiGiovanni, Davis, his brother Jacob and Travis Wood back in March of 2024.

The Meaning:

They paved that cut through street that I take to your house
Boarded up BP, yeah, it’s a Chevron now
That parish bridge that was always out
They finally fixed it, in case you missed it

They bumped us 238, we started 4 and 0
These little town headlines don’t make it to the west coast
That’s just a couple of catch you up things I could mention
In case you missed it

Our narrator opens the song by listing all of the ways that his town has changed since he last saw his ex flame, citing paved roads, rebranded gas stations and other improvements made.

Catching her up on the local high school football team, who started off on a winning streak similar to that of Davis, he tells us all about the little bits of local news that may have otherwise gone unnoticed or unshared.

It almost reads like he's just keeping her in the loop, just in case she found herself wondering how everything has been since she left, and there's plenty more where that came from.

In case you’re ever wonderin’
Thought I’d let you know
If you get to second guessin’
And get to missin’ home
Or ever feel like takin’ a trip down memory lane
Things round here are different
But some stayed the same
Like that sunrise, through those blinds
From your side of a king size
Yeah, this ol’ heart of mine’s right where you left it
In case you missed it

Centered around a clever hook, for which Davis has shown quite the knack, the narrator explains to this girl he used to love (or maybe still does) that even though things around town have changed, there are still plenty of things that have stayed the same since she left.

For instance, he's still hopelessly in love with her and he's been stuck ever since she went away. However, if she ever finds herself wanting to come back around and try again, she'll know exactly where to find him.

Still got your go to cab, even though I don’t drink red
Still got two rockin’ chairs on the front porch and they’re pointed west
They’re flyin’ all day, still sellin’ one-way tickets
In case you missed it

Rather than keeping up on all the things that have changed, the singer starts to now explain all of the other things that are still around, including her favorite bottle of wine that he doesn't drink and their matching rocking chairs out on the front porch.

In one final push, he reminds her that planes are darting across the country all day every day, so if she wanted to catch a flight back home, there's nothing stopping her.

"In case you’re ever wonderin’
Thought I’d let you know
If you get to second guessin’
And get to missin’ home
Or ever feel like takin’ a trip down memory lane
Things round here are different
But some stayed the same
Like that sunrise, through those blinds
From your side of a king size
Yeah, this ol’ heart of mine’s right where you left it
In case you missed it"

What has Davis said about ‘In Case You Missed It’?

Not one to spill much information, Jordan Davis hasn't shared much about 'In Case You Missed It,' or his forthcoming album, in general.

We're keeping our fingers crossed that a new project from the bearded crooner is in our near future.
