Just when you thought Post Malone's foray into country music couldn't get any better, his freshly dropped F-1 Trillion came accompanied by the surprise F-1 Trillion - Long Bed.
This deluxe version of Malone's country debut consists of 9 more tracks, a batch of new solo offerings from the hitmaker and a departure from the original F-1 Trillion's star-studded lineup.
The expanded edition's closing tune, 'Back To Texas,' marks the perfect end to the artist's country debut. The thrilling ode to his beloved Lone Star State is less of a "farewell" and more of a "see you later" from a country newcomer here to stay.
The honky tonk-textured 'Back To Texas' is the shortest but most succinct offering on F-1 Trillion - Long Bed. From the moment it opens in a rush of silvery strings and sharp beats, it is no frills but all fun as the artist tips a hat and pledges his fealty to his home state.
"Sang some songs in Nashville and L.A was L.A
Ran up that prevose gas bill, made friends with TSA
Hell, I've been everywhere, man, and I 'bout had enough
The more I live the more I get sick and tired of"
There's no place like home, and Post Malone expresses that throughout 'Back To Texas.' The world superstar may have done his time from Nashville to Los Angeles, but at the end of the day, there's no place like Texas.
He's encountered everyone and everything on his journey to stardom, but he's found there's one thing that gets under his skin the most and it's:
"All hat, no cattle, all belt, no buckle
All snake, no rattle, all honey, no suckle
And I'ma take every last dime stuffed under this mattress
And make a lonestar B-line, take my ass back to Texas"
He's experienced enough inauthenticity to last him a lifetime, but now, he's desperate to get back to the place and the people he knows can walk the walk, as well as talk the talk.
"I ain't a-wastin' me no time, take my ass back to Texas, oh"
Post Malone has not spoken about 'Back To Texas’ specifically just yet, but the Texas native has touched more broadly on how welcoming the country music community has been to him since he announced his foray into the genre.
In an interview with Anthony Mason for CBS in Nashville, the ‘Chemical’ singer-songwriter shared, “Everyone here was so accepting and kind”. When Mason described this as a testament to Post Malone's genial, warm character, Posty immediately responded with an endearing dismissal, “I disagree. I think it's a testament to them”.

Ran outta luck in Vegas and broke down in Mobile
Ain't found nowhere like Dallas, yeah, and I doubt I ever will

Take 'em home
All hat, no cattle, all belt, no buckle
All snake, no rattle, all buttin', no scuttle
And I'ma take every last dime stuffed under this mattress
And make a lonestar B-line, take my ass back to Texas
