The ACM Awards returned to Frisco, Texas on Thursday, May 16th, for a country music party like no other. The biggest and brightest stars from across country music descended on the Ford Center to take part in one of the genre's most prestigious ceremonies.
Iconic country entertainer Reba McEntire acted as the night's host, marking her 17th time as the ACM Awards' Master of Ceremonies. But her role didn't stop there. The 'Fancy' star pulled double-duty, wearing the hat of emcee and also taking her turn as one of the event's performers.
Jason Aldean, Kane Brown, Jelly Roll, Cody Johnson, Miranda Lambert, Parker McCollum, Thomas Rhett, Chris Stapleton and Lainey Wilson were just some of the acts who joined McEntire as the night's entertainment.
A slate of star-powered duets also took the stage. Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani, Kelsea Ballerini with Noah Kahan, as well as Nate Smith with Avril Lavigne all delivered show-stopping collaborations. Country's latest newcomer Post Malone also made an appearance, performing his new Morgan Wallen collaboration ‘I Had Some Help’ and more on the ACM Awards stage.
A trio of victors were announced ahead of the ceremony, with Megan Moroney winning New Female Artist of the Year, Nate Smith taking home New Male Artist of the Year and Tigirlily Gold triumphing in the reinstated New Duo/Group of the Year category.
As the event kicked off, the honors and accolades kept coming.
Many stars boasted a number of nods at the start of the night. At the top of the nomination list was Luke Combs, who secured an astounding eight nods for the coveted Entertainer of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, Album of the Year (Gettin' Old), Single of the Year ('Fast Car'), Song of the Year ('Fast Car') and Music Event of the Year ('Different 'Round Here' with Riley Green). IN the end, he took home Single of the Year.
Just behind him with six nominations apiece were Megan Moroney and Morgan Wallen.
Moroney received the most nods for a female artist and after winning New Female Artist of the Year, she battled it out for Female Artist of the Year, Song of the Year and Visual Media of the Year for her breakout tune 'Tennessee Orange', as well as Music Event of the Year alongside Old Dominion for their 2023 duet, 'Can’t Break Up Now'. While he came up empty handed, Wallen saw recognitions in Album of the Year (One Thing At A Time'), Single of the Year ('Last Night'), Music Event of the Year ('Man Made A Bar' with Eric Church), Male Artist of the Year, Artist-Songwriter of the Year and Entertainer of the Year.
Wilson, who famously cleaned house at the 2023 CMA Awards, also saw some pretty hefty nods again this time around. She was up for Female Artist of the Year, Song of the Year ('Heart Like A Truck') and Music Event of the Year alongside Jelly Roll ('Save Me'). In the end, she took home the awards for top female and music event, as well as the coveted title of Entertainer of the Year, winning out over Kane Brown, Jelly Roll, Cody Johnson, and 2023 champ Chris Stapleton, who himself nabbed wins for Male Artist of the Year, Album of the Year (Higher) and Artist-Songwriter of the Year.
The night also saw a slew of first-time nominees present for the 2024 ACM Awards, including Kassi Ashton, Tyler Childers, Ashley Cooke, Hannah Ellis, Flatland Cavalry, Kameron Marlowe, Kylie Morgan, Neon Union, Restless Road, Conner Smith and Tigirlily Gold, who managed to get their hands on the New Duo/Group of the Year trophy.
The 2024 ACM Awards were streamed live exclusively across more than 240 countries and territories on Prime Video on Thursday, May 16 at 7pm CT.
