It's that time of year again, when fans vote for their favorite country music videos and TV performances at the CMT Music Awards 2021.
Carrie Underwood and John Legend took home the major honor of the night, winning Video of the Year for their collaborative number 'Hallelujah', while Gabby Barrett won Female Video of the Year and Kane Brown won Male Video of the Year.
The night also featured several collaborative performances, including a rowdy rendition of Lady A's song 'Like a Lady' to kick things off. The trio were joined by Carly Pearce and Lindsay Ell.
Later on, Mickey Guyton sang two songs with Gladys Knight and Breland, 'Cross Country' and 'Friendship Train', and Chris Stapleton performed 'Hold On' with H.E.R.
Kelsea Ballerini debuted a new song with Paul Klein called 'I Quit Drinking'. The co-host (with Kane Brown) had a great night, earning her first CMT Music Award for her collaborative video with Halsey, 'The Other Girl'.
"I'm, like, beaming that it's for a performance with another woman in music that I respect, that I love", Ballerini said.
The 2021 CMT Music Awards also honored the first Black singer to play the Grand Ole Opry, Linda Martell. Mickey Guyton spoke about Martell as she introduced the Equal Play Award, saying, "When I was growing up, I didn't hear black women on country radio, I didn't see black women performing country music on television.
And to this day, only one black woman has ever made the Top 20 Country Airplay charts, and that was all the way back in 1969".
