After releasing one of the most popular albums of 2024–claiming Holler's 2024 Album of the Year–and delivering one of the stronger debut records in recent memory, Zach Top has started spreading breadcrumbs in regard to his highly-anticipated sophomore record.
Ahead of his performance on March 11 as part of the iconic RODEOHOUSTON 2025 at NRG Stadium, Top sat down for a Q&A with Spotify where he dished on what the last year has been like, how he stays grounded and when we can expect some new tunes... and the answer is actually very soon!
"We'll have new music coming," Top said plainly. "It's funny, since we've got so busy on the road in the last year and a half, I haven't hardly written a song. I need to take some time off at some point. I've got a month in September that I'm going to really try and sit down, and write a bunch."
Building up to the news we've all been waiting with baited breath to here, he continued, "Everything's moving so fast that I really haven't had time to write, but we had a bunch of stuff stacked up before we put out the first album. I just went in and tracked a few more songs to round out the second record. We got that finished up and getting it mixed right now.
"It'll come out at some in the summer. I'm not sure exactly when yet, but there will be a new record coming this summer," Top announced, being met with eager cheers from fans.
Top saw impressive success with his debut album, Cold Beer & Country Music, last year after its release in April, with several of its tracks becoming early bonafide hits for the Washington native and standout tune, 'I Never Lie,' going viral across social media and finding its way onto the all-genre Billboard Hot 100.
"We'd already had a few singles out before the release of the album, and once that thing came out, that kind of flipped a switch," Top shared when asked about what the last year of chaos has been like. "All of a sudden, [we're playing] bigger rooms, more people [are] coming out to see us, everything's selling out and that kind of thing. It's been crazy."
With just a few months before summer officially rears its head, it seems as though it'll be another Zach Top Summer in 2025, and we can't wait.
