There are three country albums in the top four spots of the Billboard 200 for the first time since 2010, thanks to Zach Bryan, Morgan Wallen and the late great Jimmy Buffett.
Zach Bryan's self-titled effort, which dropped on Friday, August 25 and has already spawned his first Billboard Hot 100 No. 1, the Kacey Musgraves-assisted ‘I Remember Everything’, remains secure at the pinnacle of the Billboard 200 albums chart.
Morgan Wallen's ground-breaking 2023 opus, One Thing At A Time, settles at No. 2, while Jimmy Buffett's iconic 1985 greatest hits project, Songs You Know By Heart, has leapt up to No. 4, following the Gulf and Western star's death on September 1.
The last time three country albums achieved these heights simultaneously was in November 2010, when Taylor Swift's Speak Now, Jason Aldean's My Kinda Party and Sugarland's The Incredible Machine occupied the top three places respectively on the Billboard 200.
The latest instance of country music chart domination continues the genre's impressive 2023 streak, with Morgan Wallen having spent much of the year at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 with his infectious anthem, ‘Last Night’. The project that produced this track, One Thing At A Time, recently became the longest-running No. 1 album of the decade.
In addition, Luke Combs’ ‘Fast Car’, Oliver Anthony's ‘Rich Men North Of Richmond’ and Jason Aldean's ‘Try That In A Small Town’ have enjoyed lengthy stints at the business-end of the chart this year.
With Tyler Childers having just released a widely acclaimed new album, and with genre heavyweights such as Chris Stapleton and Riley Green set to release projects later this year, it looks like country music's successful Billboard chart run will be sustained for weeks to come.
