"Hope you don't hate it"

Many of us have had the same feeling since Zach Bryan announced, back in July last year, that his next project, With Heaven On Top, would drop this January.

Bryan originally said the project would simply be an EP. With such a long wait, we knew he was really having us on.

That's now confirmed: with the revelation the night before release, With Heaven On Top is in fact Bryan's sixth studio album. Not only that, it's a whopping 25-track behemoth.

"Long way from the 500 DeAnn vinyls we made and a long way from home," Bryan shared in a social media post announcing the physical release of the album. "More on the record tomorrow when it's out but I love you all very much and hope you stay n listen at midnight."

It sure does feel millions of miles from those original pressings of his debut album in 2019, and you can see why he feels far from home. In an Instagram Story the morning before release (January 8), he shared that he was out for a run in Paris—the place he seemingly now calls home, as he promised.

But what of the tracklist? Of the 25 songs on the liner notes, Zach has teased at least eight of them in various guises. The fierce, irritated ambience of 'Santa Fe' was first teased nearly a year ago, while 'Skin' was shared less than a week after Bryan had first made mention of the album name, also back in February of 2025.

'Sundown Girls' was unveiled in the form of an audio clip on Instagram back in October, all during the furore that was unleashed with ICE after the release of 'Bad News', which features as Track 10 on With Heaven On Top.

Track 12, meanwhile, is 'Cannonball' - another of the songs that Bryan first shared in a burst in October. It's flickering memories of casinos in Reno are a far cry from the pubs and parks of Dublin, where back in June he played 'Plastic Cigarettes' for the first time. Those shows in Dublin and London seem to be very formative for the collection, but so are his ever beloved Philadelphia Eagles.

The weekend that they punched their ticket to the 2025 Super Bowl, Bryan first shared 'Always Willin''. Despite the timing of its release, the song's narrative is centered within the dark deserts of Arizona, a vivid portrait of desolate lands.

'All Good Things Past' first arrived in the October of 2024, amidst Bryan's long and public break-up with Brianna 'Chickenfry' LaPaglia. In the video, Bryan first played the song with five of his bandmates, including his trumpeter and saxophonist. He'd go on to say on X; "if it's acoustic don't mind it”.

Finally, we have the closer and title track, "With Heaven On Top". First teased way back in November of '24, the snippet Bryan shared to TikTok and Instagram Stories featured New York artist Grumpy. It'll be interesting to see whether Grumpy features on the fully-formed version of the song, and any other track on the album at large.
