After the Philadelphia Eagles’ momentous victory over the Kansas City Chiefs during Sunday's Super Bowl LIX, Zach Bryan's loyal fans spent most of Monday frantically refreshing their Spotify and Apple Music pages, wondering why ‘Dear Miss’ hadn't dropped.
Prior to the weekend, the ‘Revival’ singer-songwriter promised, “IF THE BIRDS WIN THE BOWL DEAR MISS IS OUT THE NEXT DAY”. When Bryan watched his beloved Eagles triumph on Sunday, fans assumed this meant ‘Dear Miss’ would be made available on Monday.
However, as the day progressed and it looked increasingly unlikely that ‘Dear Miss’ would be dropping, Zach Bryan took to his Instagram Stories to explain that fans had seemingly misunderstood his initial statement, “guys I said dear miss would be out the day AFTER they won! It's out at midnight cmon you know I always have you”.
By our calculations, “the day after they won” is still Monday, given the Eagles won the Super Bowl LIX on Sunday - but regardless, ‘Dear Miss’ is thankfully now available to stream.
It's an endearing, rose-tinted ode to a lover, with Zach Bryan admitting his flaws and addressing her mother as he promises to become a better man, “She was raised up proper and I was raised up / With a poor working boy's heart / The way the light is beatin' on her smilin' cheeks this evenin' / Is the finest of the world's fine art”.
First teased over a year ago, when ‘Dear Miss’ didn't feature on the tracklist for Zach Bryan's 2024 album, The Great American Bar Scene, most fans had resigned themselves to the assumption that ’Dear Miss’ would never get an official release.
‘Dear Miss’ follows another long-awaited fan-favourite, ‘Blue Jean Baby’, which Zach Bryan gifted us after the Eagles’ victory over the Washington Commanders in late January.
Bryan has been cheering on the Philadelphia Eagles throughout the season, with the Oklahoma native even collaborating with the team for a special merch drop in December 2024.
It appears ‘Dear Miss’ won't be featuring on Zach Bryan's new With Heaven On Top EP, which is expected to arrive in the coming weeks, with both ‘Dear Miss’ and ‘Blue Jean Baby’ seemingly standalone tracks released in honour of his favourite NFL team.
With Heaven On Top is set to serve as a precursor to the ‘I Remember Everything’ chart-topper's next album, which is believed to be called Motorbreath. Zach Bryan has confirmed both the EP and the full-length project will be dropping at some point in 2025, with Bryan recently sharing a Matthew McConaughey-voiced introduction to an accompanying film about the creation of the latter.
