After performing the live debut of his unreleased fan-favourite, ’Doors’, during the Out of the Blue Festival Pool Party, Noah Kahan decided to treat his main-stage audience to a special performance of the powerful new track the following evening.
The Vermont native has been headlining Mexico's 2025 Out of the Blue Festival in Cancún, with the ‘Stick Season’ hitmaker performing a trio of sets over the past few days.
Tantalisingly, the fact that ’Doors’ is now cementing itself as a staple of Noah Kahan's 2025 setlist seemingly confirms the vulnerable track will feature on Kahan's new studio album.
While the ’Northern Attitude’ singer-songwriter's unexpected and ‘Out of the Blue’ Pool Party rendition of ‘Doors’ felt a little more casual and off-the-cuff, due to the light-hearted, celebratory setting of the performance, Noah Kahan's main-stage performance of the moving track was given an added sheen of sobriety and gravitas.
Noah Kahan began with little more than the sparse, stirring strum of his guitar, before the drum pattern and accompanying instrumentalists entered the fray to help give ‘Doors’ an additional jolt of electricity, as Kahan launched into the emphatic hook.
The introspective offering finds Noah Kahan once again reflecting on how his upbringing in Vermont has shaped the man he is today, before he apologetically addresses his partner, as he attempts to explain why he still struggles with longstanding attachment issues (“I was born into a one hundred-year storm / Foot of ice across Vermont / And in that dark, and in that frost, a heart was formed / Malcontented and unwarm / You were unprotected, not unwarned”).
Elsewhere during Noah Kahan's spellbinding second main-stage set at Out of the Blue Festival 2025, the packed-out crowd were treated to enchanting live renditions of Stick Season anthems such as ‘She Calls Me Back’, ‘Forever’, ‘Homesick’ and ‘Dial Drunk’. Excitingly, Kahan also performed a couple of other unreleased tracks - both of which are believed to feature on his next project - ‘Pain Is Cold Water’ and ‘The Great Divide’, along with a surprise cover of Harry Styles’ 2019 hit, ‘Fine Line’.
The next series of shows Noah Kahan has on the books is his eagerly anticipated European run, with performances lined up at Ireland's Marlay Park, the UK's BST Hyde Park, Belgium's Rock Werchter, Spain's Mad Cool Festival and Portugal's NOS Alive. With that run set to kick off in July, we're hoping the folk chart-topper might be plotting to hone and release his new album in the next few months.
